Praise Through the Ages Choral Concerts

Praise through the ages choral concerts – About this programme ‘Praise Through The Ages’

The first half consists of a variety of familiar pieces of sacred music including Panis Angelicus featuring local tenor Rob Boyd.

The Requiem by living composer John Rutter completes the programme. It combines some of the traditional Latin texts of the Requiem Mass, with some personal selections from the Psalms, all set to music in Rutter’s unique style.

Accomplished soprano Colleen Arnott is the soloist for this work.

The choir will be accompanied by Margaret Phillips on piano and The NEO String Ensemble.

Our Musical Director, Malcolm Halford, has created a programme of music which uplifts the spirits of both performers and audience.

We have all recovered our voices after singing ourselves hoarse at the exhilarating Christmas concerts.

So now we look forward to rehearsing an interesting and challenging programme for our May concert.

New members will be very welcome.

2018 Rehearsals Begin – on 31 January at 7.30 pm at the CWA Hall in Faithful Street. See you there!

Swanpool Community Carols

The sun sank behind the hills across the paddocks while a little breeze softened the heat. Perfect conditions for the choir’s first experience of the Swanpool Community carols. We all hope it won’t be the last!

An inspiring programme of musical items interspersed with excerpts from the Christmas story, poems, performances by children. and backed by an orchestra of about 20 instruments including an accordion and a harp! Such an enjoyable rural community event. Massive thanks to the organisers, particularly the ladies who fed the famished hordes.

Successful 2017 Christmas Concerts

Such a pleasure to be part of a collaboration of singers and string players in Wangaratta and Benalla on the weekend. Interesting and beautiful program of Christmas music, old and new, created and conducted with precision and humour by LouAnne. Enthusiastic audiences who stayed to chat over afternoon tea. Very special.
