Successful Choir Concert Series

Members of the choir enjoyed a wonderful weekend of singing at our two concerts in Benalla and Wangaratta, with very good audiences at both venues. Accompanied by Margaret Phillips on piano and harpsichord, and members of the North East Occasional Strings including the Neo Quartet – Benalla, the music ranged from folk songs to spirituals and Bach chorales. The strings’ solo item of Rumanian Folk Songs by Bartok was a particular highlight.

Wonderful Weekend of Singing

What a wonderful weekend of singing!

Two concerts in Wangaratta and Benalla with appreciative audiences.
The music chosen by our musical director, Malcolm Halford, was a real joy to perform.
Thanks to our accompanist, Margaret Phillips, who probably had to work harder than any of the singers.
Congratulations to all the singers, especially the small quartet of men who were able to balance the larger women’s sections in each of the items.

After a week off, rehearsals will resume in preparation for the next concert which will be held in August. The program again contains a variety of items including some folk songs, spirituals and sacred pieces.
